We survived…and an update

Yes, we’re still alive! We actually did come back from our California trip….Unfortunately for us, our server hosting provider which hosts photosunscripted.com (among other things) accidentally wiped our server. It really couldn’t have happened at a worse time…but when is it a good time, right? Trevor and I spent hours in the motor home moving the site to backup servers. Not easy when your only Internet access is a flaky wifi hotspot. It’s been a challenging week since we returned, but we’re working through this and we couldn’t ask for better clients. No client data was lost as we do not store any event photos on the remote server. We are moving data around and rebuilding from backups which has been an enormous and tedious effort. You may notice minor issues with our sites over the next couple weeks as we settle into our new data center home.

On the bright side, we have some exciting weddings and events to post soon! I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer!

From our California camping trip….Every year, it’s a Hawthorn tradition to “camp” in southern California off the beach. Whenever I tell people that I’m going camping, they look at me in disbelief. It’s not what most people have in mind because we actually do have showers and a camp store that sells coffee. We do, however, sleep in tents and I don’t wear makeup for a week. =)

A nice flight on our favorite airline, Jetblue!

Who needs magazines to read when you have Jerry Ghionis’ picpockets??

Who needs McDonald’s when you have In-n-Out?

This is probably the 11th time the table was moved.

Working on an album. Kyle was there to cheer me on!

Ahh….making some calls after finding out about our server. Not fun.

Good old camp showers! There are always some interesting finds in there!

1 day in the sun will do it for ya! We call him “Powder”.

We spent half the day at Panera working on our server problem…until we got the stares.

You could say that she was really into this book.

My self-portrait on the beach. You can only see my freckles in the summer.

Heading out west…

It has been another fantastic spring season for Photos Unscripted and thank you to all of my brides and grooms for making it so special. You’re one of the biggest reasons why Trevor and I love our job so much.

As the summer winds down and we gear up for a very busy fall, we’re wrapping up all of our album orders and print orders. If you have already submitted for your album, please expect to receive contact from me very shortly. If you are interested in any other products such as canvas wraps, prints, and cards, right now is the best time to get those in. Trevor and I are leaving out of town for our annual trip to California on 8/10 for a week and a half, which will delay production. Any print orders placed by this Sunday will be on time. Just giving you a friendly heads up!

Thanks again, everyone! I hope you’re all having a fun summer.

Wow! I am on a major blogging backup. Several weeks ago, Trevor and I attending a wonderful week-long workshop in Atlantic City. It was not only a very educational experience filled with amazing teachers and photographers, but it was simply a blast! On one of the weekday evenings, we were scheduled to do a “Trash the Dress” session with one of 10 volunteer brides. The goal was to take creative portraits of our bride without having to worry about getting her dress dirty. Some may say that the point was to actually trash the dress, but we just went with the flow. We were SO lucky to be teamed with the group that we were with and even better, we had just an amazing bride that was so laid back and down for whatever. Trevor and I just adore her to bits! Here are a couple of my favorites.

Coming soon…

It’s great being a husband/wife team!

Occasionally, we receive pictures that guests take of us while on the job or just snapshots of us being goofy. We received this one from one of our favorite brides, Lorraine. It’s of us showing how to get in really close during a portrait. Sometimes it’s easier to show than to tell…one of the benefits of being a husband and wife team. I love it!

Cody – winner of my charity auction session

A couple months ago, we donated a family portrait session to the Metro Teen Aids Organization in DC. Cody and his family were the generous bidders and we had a blast photographing their beautiful family last week in Springfield.

Before they woke him up, we had to take this precious picture…

Cody’s just so handsome!

Playing with daddy!

One of my favorite pictures. He was so wound up, but he was completely mesmerized when his mom started reading to him.
